Des Moines, Iowa (May 14st 2008) – The Iowa Chinese Language School (ICLS) received a $5,000 donation from Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, in May, 2008. Since the ICLS was founded in 1999, Pioneer has actively supported diversity efforts in its community and has been one of the key ICLS sponsors.

This contribution indicates that Pioneer recognizes the importance of the Chinese language school to make a difference for our community. Such financial supports are significant in a very positive sense of diversity and multiculture within our community.

This donation will enable the ICLS to improve its high-quality teaching programs and support more teachers who can become Iowa certificated Chinese teachers. These teachers are essential for the integration of the ICLS Chinese teaching program into local school’s foreign language curricula in the future. It also allows the ICLS to continue our Open House and Movie Night Programs that are very effective ways to introduce Chinese culture to our students and local community. It also helps us create a series of seminars and training sessions on “Chinese Culture and Business Etiquette in China,” which will help local companies grow their business with China more effectively.

ICLS is committed to foster a diverse environment for our community towards awareness of the Chinese culture and to provide services to those who like to learn Chinese language and its culture, and learn it well in the greater Des Moines areas.
